Nicholas Girling is an artist from Melbourne Australia. He was a senior designer at Myer GraceBros Head office, trained in the craft of graphic design from Monash University, an art director and a creative director at Girling Studios before beginning to exhibit his artworks. His art prints, paintings and pastel originals can be found around the world.

'My goal is to create art with a spontaneous energy and passion to reveal an authentic instinctive style. I also want the art to be bold, timeless and memorable. To burn on your retina.'

Painting on instinct alone

The aim is to tap into the subconscious and remove any barriers to creativity. It's a freedom of expression. The guidelines I set for myself were to not be overly judgmental about what I began creating in terms of aesthetics. But simply to go with it. The result is creating a higher quantity of art, which is then edited for the exhibition.
